Brock Lesnar: Bad Promoter for Bud Light
August 12th, 2009
Famous UFC fighter Brock Lesnar dissed event sponsor, Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Light, at his last fight after beating down his opponent at UFC 100 in Las Vegas. Brock is definitely an antagonist when it comes to the UFC: he’s outspoken, cocky, and doesn’t care how small his fan-base gets in the midst of all his antics. However, he’s known to be a big drinker, so one would think he would at least give a cheers to Bud Light for sponsoring the event after the fight was over. According to BrandFreak, just the opposite happened. When interviewed after the fight in front of the whole crowd, Brock screamed: “I’m going to go home tonight, and I’m going to drink a Coors Light. That’s right, a Coors Light, because Bud Light won’t pay me nothing.” BrandFreak noted that the speech brought in $250,000 worth of unexpected media coverage for the brand, and probably mitigated the distribution of any custom koozies or other Bud Light promotional products passed out at the event. Check out the video, it’s pretty intense.
